Girls basketball

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars competed in the Toby Yaho Classic on Thursday and Friday.

Trinity dropped both matchups Thursday, losing to Jasper by 11 points and North Knox by 31.

The girls then faced off with Bloomfield on Friday morning, defeating the Cardinals 63-39 to grab their first win of the tournament.

Trinity then had to face Eastern Greene in their final game of the event. The team would make it a close one, but dropped the game, 50-45.

The Cougars will now prepare to travel to West Washington on Jan. 4th and will play at 7:30 p.m. at West Washington High School.

Brownstown Central

The Lady Braves also competed in the Toby Yaho Classic, defeating Owen Valley 49-25.

Brownstown then fell to Springs Valley in a close game, losing 60-54. Brownstown fell to 9-4 on the season with the loss. The final game was against Southwestern (Hanover).

The girls were able to defeat the Rebels by one point in a 61-60 victory. Jenna Klosterman was named to the All-Toby Yaho Classic tournament team.

The JV Lady Braves also picked up a win on Thursday, defeating Southwestern (Hanover), 36-30. The team would finish in 3rd place in the invitational.

Boys basketball

Seymour

Seymour competed with New Albany on Wednesday evening on the road.

The game ended up being as close as they come, dropping the matchup with the Bulldogs 69-67 in overtime, falling to 6-3 on the season.

Seymour now falls to third place (2-1) in the Hoosier Hills Conference behind New Albany, which is 2-0, and Bedford North Lawrence, which is 1-0.

The Owls will now prepare to compete at Martinsville tonight at 7:30 p.m. Martinsville is sitting at 3-4 on the season, dropping its previous matchup with Indian Creek by three points.

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars were in a tight game with Switzerland County on Friday morning, dropping the matchup 55-54. The game was the first round of the Ryder Realty Holiday Classic at Switzerland County High School.

Hudson Lang led the way in scoring for Trinity with 24 points. Reed Mellencamp followed with 18, and Levi Pottschmidt added seven.

Peyton Pollert ended with four, and Kowan Gross scored one for the Cougars. Trinity also faced off with Hamilton Heights in the consolation part of the tournament on Friday afternoon.

The team would drop the matchup with the Class 3A Huskies, 79-58 to fall to 3-7 on the season. Trinity will now prepare to host the defending Class 1A State Champion from last season in Indianapolis Lutheran on Jan. 5th at 7:30 p.m.

Crothersville

The Tigers competed in the Tabernacle Christian Tournament on Thursday and Friday.

Crothersville competed in three games, dropping the matchup with Legacy Elite 64-45.

Beau Napier led the way during the tournament, starting with a 15-point performance against the Elite. Tymir Cromwell and Adam Turner both scored nine points, while Logen O’Sullivan added seven.

The Tigers bounced back to defeat Connersville Christian in a thrilling 57-56 finish.

Napier continued his hot stretch of play, including the game-winning layup with 3.3 seconds to secure the win. Napier scored 22 points, Cromwell had another nice performance with 14 and Dirk Crater scored eight for the Tigers.

Crothersville would finish second in the tournament after defeating Tabernacle Christian, 49-30 on Friday afternoon.

Now, the Tigers are sitting at 4-6 and will now host Christian Academy of Madison on Jan. 4 at 7:30 p.m.

Medora

The Hornets faced off with Columbus Christian on Friday evening, dropping the contest to Crusaders, 53 to 37. Hudson Johnson led the way for Medora with 18 points.

Jaxon Nugen followed with 11, while Kade Wright scored 4. Damian Salas and Dawson Cornett scored the other points with two apiece for the Hornets.

The Crusaders attacked the basket and lived at the free-throw line shooting 13-of-19 from the charity stripe. Medora attempted just 3 free-throws and made two of them.
