FREETOWN

Mosier Doyle “Bud” Kirts, age 79, a native of Columbus, Indiana and a resident of Norman, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at his residence. He was born on January 25, 1944 to the late Mosier Kirts and the late Retha (Smallwood) Kirts. He was a member of Houston Christian Church. Bud was a master electrician and retired from Reliance Electric after 37 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, mushroom hunting and NASCAR. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy from June of 1961 until January 1965.

He is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Betty Sharon (Zike) Kirts of Norman, Indiana. Two sons, Don Kirts of Houston, Indiana and Ron Kirts and his wife Cathy of Freetown, Indiana. Two daughters, Sheila Pferrer of Freetown, Indiana and Robin Helblig of Seymour, Indiana. One brother, Bob Kirts and his wife Betty of Houston, Indiana. Two sisters, Doris Day and her significant other, Jim Greahouse of Brownstown, Indiana and Christy Jackson and her husband Rondal of Medora, Indiana. Eight grandchildren, Josh, Matt, Brandon, Trent (Amy), Ethan, Jay (Rachel), Beverly (Kyle) and Lesley (Dereck). One special grandson, Daniel Roll. 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sharon Lucas and Dinah Charles.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home – Winklepleck Chapel in Brownstown, Indiana. Funeral Services will begin at 7:00 PM with Pastor Rob Kirts officiating.

Private Family graveside services will be held.
