David W. Brown, 70, of Seymour passed away at his home on December 28, 2023. David was born on July 17, 1953, in Seymour to Leland V. and Vercil Irene (Wilson) Brown. He was a 1972 graduate of Seymour High School. David worked for Valeo Sylvania for 30 years until his retirement. Several years ago, he drove a truck and delivered produce for Jay C. Groub Company. He worked other jobs throughout his years and enjoyed fixing things.

David enjoyed having a garden every year. He liked to plan ahead and start plants and flowers from seed before springtime arrived. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially enjoyed spending time by his pond or taking walks in the woods. He enjoyed woodworking. He liked to play cards, especially Euchre with his family and friends. He liked to plant trees and wanted to preserve land and wilderness. He also loved watching football and NASCAR. Above all things, David loved spending time with his grandchildren.

David is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary (Pyle) Brown; son, Kyle (Jenny) Brown; grandchildren: Colin and Madison Brown; brothers: Leland V. Brown, Jr. of Paducah, KY and Joe (Dondra) Brown of Seymour; sister, Judy (Jerry) Turner of Seymour; brother-in-laws: David Pyle of California, Wayne (Mary) Pyle of North Vernon, Mike (Kathy) Pyle of Seymour, Chris (Kris) Pyle of Madison, Kevin (Novella) Pyle of Commiskey, Kent (Sherry) Pyle of Vallonia, Tennyson Pyle of Seymour, John (Rhonda) Pyle of Seymour, Jamie (Kelly) Pyle of Vincennes, Bede (Angie) Pyle of Seymour; sister-in-law, Regina McLaughlin of Columbus; many nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, April Brown.

Funeral services for David will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Voss and Sons Funeral & Cremation Services, 316 N. Chestnut St., Seymour, with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Schneck Hospice or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
