Two Jackson County men face felony charges related to a home invasion and robbery recently reported in the city, police report.

David Dakota Hatchett, 31, and Logan Lee Lane, 21, both of Seymour, each face Level 1 charges of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury and burglary resulting in serious bodily injury; a Level 5 charge of battery resulting in serious bodily injury; and a Level 6 charge of residential entry.

According to a news release from Cpl. Gabe Jordan with the Seymour Police Department, the arrests stem from a call to Seymour dispatch in the early hours of Dec. 21.

That’s when officers responded to a residence on Rebecca Court in reference to a home invasion and robbery, Jordan said.

During the investigation, police were told multiple individuals had just entered a home, battered the homeowner and stole multiple items.

Officers gathered statements and reviewed surveillance footage from the area and as the investigation developed learned the identities of the suspects involved, Jordan said.

Officers then went to an address in the 900 block of North Park Street, where they made contact with and detained two of the suspects involved in the incident, Hatchett and Lane, Jordan said.

Evidence also was collected from within the residence.

Investigators later interviewed Hatchett and Lane, obtaining a confession, Jordan said.

Officers applied for and were granted a Jackson Circuit Court search warrant for a vehicle located on the property, and additional evidence was located.
