SEYMOUR

Cathleen Guinn Surenkamp, 97, passed away Saturday morning, December 23, 2023. She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County.

She was born September 28, 1926 in Cortland, IN to Hubert G. Guinn, Sr. and Mary M. Oathout Guinn. She married Carl Surenkamp on March 25, 1951 in Seymour.

Survivors include two sons, Gordon Michael Surenkamp of Seymour, IN and Mark Steven Surenkamp of Bloomington; one brother, Hubert “Junior” Guinn of Cortland; one sister, Ida Mae Stahl of Cortland; granddaughter, Cathleen JoAnn (Ryan) Nesmith of Rock Hill, SC; and a great grandson, Cole Nesmith.

Cathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Mary Guinn; husband, Carl Surenkamp on December 28, 2009; brother, William “Bill” Guinn; and a granddaughter, Beth Ann Surenkamp.

She was a long time member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where she was a member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class.

Calling hours will take place from 4-6PM, Wednesday, December 27, at Voss &Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 316 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour. Dr. Garrett Mills will officiate a funeral service to follow at 6 PM at the funeral home. A graveside ceremony will take place, at 11AM, Thursday, at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Seymour.
