Rita Sue Fields, age 65, of Seymour, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 21, 2023.

Rita was born in Cedar Lake, IN to the late Harris Eugene Bowman and Ruth Norene (Sinks) Bowman. On July 3, 1978, she married the love of her life, Anthony “Tony” Fields, who preceded her in death in 2022. Rita worked for over 40 years at The Lutheran Community Home in Seymour. She enjoyed her family and loved spending as much time with them as possible. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and former coworkers.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Cowles (Jason), Nicole Fields (Robert); five grandchildren, Peyton Hayes, Laken Hall, Eric Cowles, Daren Cowles and Christian Cowles; two great-grandchildren, Preslee and Piper Cowles; two brothers, Rod Bowman (Vickie) and Ray Bowman; and one very spoiled dog, Snoopy.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Tony Fields, her parents, one brother, Randy Bowman and one sister, Judy Bowman.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, at 12:00 noon, at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, 316 N. Chestnut St., Seymour, IN 47274. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4:00-7:00PM at the funeral home and again on Wednesday morning at 11:00AM until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.
