Jenet M. Middendorf Borgman, 100 of Columbus, IN passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023. She was born July 15, 1923 in Jonesville, IN to Ed and Clara Meyer Middendorf. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1941. She married Paul E. Borgman on February 8, 1942 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jonesville, Indiana. They were married 78 years before he preceded her in death on August 23, 2020. She dedicated her life to her family.

Jenet worked in manufacturing during WWII while her husband, Paul was in the war. Later in life, she worked for J.C. Penney in Columbus for several years. Her family will remember her as an excellent homemaker, always cooking, cleaning, etc. well up into her 90’s. Homemaker was her full-time job for 78 years. Earlier in life, she made countless trips to “the pond” for fishing or “the woods” for nature walks or flushing rabbits out of brush piles with the grandchildren. Many precious memories were made during times like these. She will always be known for her kind, cooperative spirit and willingness to make time for others especially teaching young brides to cook better, make new recipes, pies, etc.

Jenet was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church – Jonesville where she was the last living charter member of the Ladies Service Guild which is still active today. She was baptized July 29, 1923 and confirmed March 21, 1937.

Jenet is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Edwin, Robert and Roy Middendorf, one great-granddaughter and one great-great-granddaughter. Surviving to cherish her memory are her son, Larry (Connie) Borgman of Columbus and a daughter, Judy (Jake) Sharp of South Dakota, grandchildren, Kevin (Chris) Borgman, Darren (Stacy) Borgman, Malinda (Jim) Davidson, Steve (Donita Cain) Claycamp, John Claycamp and Gary (Stacy) Claycamp, 14 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Friends visited with Jenet’s family from 9:00 – 10:30 AM Thursday, December 21, 2023 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jonesville, Indiana with the funeral being held at 10:30 AM with Pastor Matt Jung officiating. Interment followed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Jonesville. Arrangements entrusted to Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 419 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour, IN 47274.

Memorials may be given in Jenet’s memory to St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery or Trinity Lutheran High School.
