BROWNSTOWN

Rick Junior Hanner, age 63, a native of Seymour, Indiana and a resident of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at his residence. He was born on May 3, 1960 to the late James Hanner and the late Mary (Ferguson) Hanner. He was a Christian by faith. He enjoyed racing especially NASCAR with Tony Stewart being his favorite. He also enjoyed IU basketball, gardening and visiting with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Waneta (Webster) Hanner of Brownstown, Indiana, two step sons, Jason Cornett and Justin Cornett of Seymour, Indiana. Two brothers, Bobby Hanner and his wife Robin of Brownstown, Indiana and Jerry Hanner of Freetown, Indiana. Two sisters, Betty Lee of Brownstown, Indiana and Wanda Jean Root and her husband Eddie of Vallonia, Indiana. Two grandchildren, Carson and Sophia Cornett. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Donna Sue Hanner.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home – Winklepleck Chapel in Brownstown, Indiana. Visitation will resume on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home with services beginning at 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Kurtz Cemetery.
