Nancy Mary Sliwicki Samons, of Seymour, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023.

She was born August 22, 1963 to Fred Joseph and Tomoko Masuda Sliwicki in San Diego, California. She graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1981 and served in the United States Navy. She married the love of her life, Kelly Samons, in January 1990. They celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary in January 2023.

Nancy graduated from IUPUC with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and taught for Jennings County School Corporation for over 21 years. She retired from teaching in September 2023 and touched the lives of many, both inside and outside the classroom. Serving others, especially children, was her passion. She continued to serve others until the end of her life, when she donated organs to save the lives of others.

Nancy was a member of The Point Church in Seymour. Nancy enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. She spread love and laughter with everyone she came into contact with. She loved rooting for her favorite baseball team, the Padres, and the Chargers football team.

Surviving to cherish her memories are her husband, Kelly; her children, Cassandra (Devin) Cornwell, Katrina (Jacob) Hill, and Elliott Samons; grandchildren, Nolan, Harper, Bode and Adeline; her brothers, Mickey Sliwicki and Jim Sliwicki; and many brothers-in law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Vicki Sliwicki, her sister-in-law, Diana Sliwicki, her mother-in-law, Diana Samons, and her son, Nathaniel Samons, all of whom greeted her into heaven with open arms.

Visitation hours will be from 4-8PM, Wednesday, at Voss &Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 316 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour. Rev. Steve Barrett will officiate a funeral at 10:30 AM, Thursday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Edwardsville Cemetery.
