Martha Jean Wheeler, age 93, of North Vernon, passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

Martha was born on October 16, 1930, in Vallonia, IN to the late Leo and Lula (Edwards) Nance. She was a 1948 graduate of Vallonia High School. On April 2, 1949, she married the love of her life, Robert Wheeler, who preceded her in death in 2018. Martha was a homemaker and a contract house cleaner for new homes. She was a member of Hayden Methodist Church as well as United Methodist Women. Martha enjoyed reading Christian Fiction, quilting and word puzzles.

Survivors include her children, Robert “Mike” (Marsha) Wheeler, Jerry Wheeler, Dan (Barbara) Wheeler, Steve (Patty) Wheeler; Nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Clyde Nance, Robert Nance, Richard Nance, sister Connie Shelton and a daughter-in-law, Sherryl Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held at Voss and Sons Funeral Service and Crematory, on Monday, November 13, at 10AM. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Sunday evening, November 12, from 4-7:00PM and again on Monday morning, from 9:00AM until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Acme, IN.
