Charles D. Fouts, age 91, of Seymour, passed away at his home in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 28, 2023. Charlie was born in Logansport, IN on August 27, 1932, to the late H. Clifford Fouts and Nellie Minneman Fouts.

Charlie was a 1950 graduate of Jefferson Township High School in Mexico, IN and a 1959 graduate of Indiana University School of Business. He served in the Army for 2 years stationed in Mannheim Germany during the Korean War. On January 13, 1957, Charlie married the love of his life, Patricia Place, in Denver, IN.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Patricia Fouts; daughter Jean Fouts; son Brian Fouts (Donetta K.); sisters, Doris Laymon, Marilyn Spangler, Carolyn Markley, and Barbara Fouts; brother Gene Fouts; grandchildren, David Fouts and Matthew Fouts; great-grandchildren, Crew Michael Fouts and Lily Mae Fouts.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Bradley Fouts. Charlie worked as an accountant/auditor at Allison Engines after graduation, moving to Seymour in 1968 to work with Amoco Chemical as an auditor, and then worked as an auditor for the Indiana State Board of Health before retiring.

As an active member of First Baptist Church, Charlie truly enjoyed giving of his time and talents to serve his church family. He served his community through the Kiwanis Club, participating in the Oktoberfest yearly working in the Kiwanis food booth and working with the youth in the Key Club among other club activities.

Charlie developed a passion for running and triathlons after taking up running for exercise in his late midlife. He was very accomplished in 5K races to Iron Man competitions and was renowned statewide and regionally. He competed until the age of 84 and continued to swim early in the mornings in the Seymour High School pool until the age of 90. He was a member of the Seymour Multi Sport Club.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Voss and Sons Funeral Service and Crematory at 11 AM. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, November 1, 2023, from 5-7 PM and again at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 10 AM until the time of service.

Burial and military honors will immediately follow at Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Charlie Fouts to First Baptist Church of Seymour, Kiwanis Club, Schneck Memorial Hospice, or charity of choice.
