State cross country

Seymour and Brownstown Central

Chance and Shane Ratliff of Brownstown competed in the state cross country competition on Saturday in Terre Haute. These were the only boys competitors to advance into the contest for the Braves.

Shane finished in 149th with his time of 16:29.90, while Chance clocked 16:33.70. Cameron Todd of Brebeuf Jesuit took first place in the race with a time of 14:55.50.

Carmel took the top spot in the team scores with a 76.

Vivienne Siefker wrapped up her running career with Seymour after the final race of the season. Siefker ended the race in 152nd with a time of 19:50.50. She was the only qualifier for the Owls in the 2023 season.

Libby Dowty of Indian Creek won the girls race, clocking 17:06.70 in the winning effort.

Homestead won the team part of the event with a score of 108.The race took place at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course on Saturday afternoon.

Crothersville alumni game

The inaugural Crothersville Tigers alumni basketball game has been planned for 6 p.m. Nov. 10.

This game will feature several players from the sectional championship teams from 2017 and 2020.

Admission is a monetary donation. Proceeds from this event will benefit CHS athletic teams. The public is invited to attend.

Schmidt, Thompson named to honorable mention all-state

The Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association announced all-state teams in the middle of last week with two Seymour boys making the team.

Owls Joe Schmidt and Parker Thompson were both selected as honorable mention on the 2023 all-state team. Both players also made the District 8 all-district team for Seymour.
