SEYMOUR

Walter Eugene Hildreth, age 81, a lifelong resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on August, 25, 1942 to the late Homer Hildreth and the late Dorthea (Douglas) Nelson. He was a member of Bible Holiness Church, a 1960 graduate of Seymour High School and a former member of Spirit of 76 CB Club, where he was known as “Nugget”. Walter loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved his dogs and enjoyed raising, training and showing Doberman Pinschers. Walter was a very independent, strong willed man that meant what he said and said what he meant. He had a rough exterior, but extremely dependable when some one needed him.

He is survived by his three daughters, Cathy Reed of Williamsport, Indiana, Melissa Salazar and her fiancé Paul Reeves of Seymour, Indiana and Belinda Pittman and her husband Timothy of Elizabethtown, Indiana. One brother, Charlie Hildreth and his wife Alice of Paris Crossing, Indiana and Julia Stroud of Uniontown, Indiana. Eight grandchildren, Brent Pollock, Bobbie-Jo Hess, Mary Pittman, Tanya Salazar, Cassandra Salazar, Timothy Pittman, Walter Pittman and Katelyn Pittman. Thirteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 50 years, Eileen (Symons) Hildreth, one brother, Butch Hildreth and one sister, Cheryl Graham.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home – Seymour Chapel with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM. Pastor Dale Stewart will officiate. He will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery.
