The Jackson County Public Library board of trustees approved the 2024 budget during its regular meeting Monday at the Seymour Library.

The library’s 2024 operating fund budget will be $3,014,283.

During the meeting, the board approved 2024 closing and board meeting dates; health, dental, vision and life insurance rates starting Dec. 1; changes to the influenza pandemic and meeting space policies; and the Seymour Parks and Recreation Department using the Seymour Library parking lot for a parade lineup after 5 p.m. Dec. 16.

The board also received a report from Circulation Assistant Jordann Malone, who discussed her job over the past nine years that includes mending books and hosting the Fantastic Fiction book discussion group on the third Friday of each month.

Board President Dan Davis appointed Eunice Lacey, Jaime McRoy and Curt Schleibaum to the nominating committee. Lacey, the committee’s chairwoman, will bring a slate of officers to the November meeting for a vote at the December meeting. New officers would start their positions in January.

The next board meeting is at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Seymour Library.
