Rick Dean Ratliff, age 67, a native and resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at IU Methodist Hospital. He was born on October 26, 1955 to the late Earl Ratliff and the late Frances (Otte) Ratliff Hobbs. He was a Christian by faith. Rick will forever be remembered as a loyal, gentle, patient and kind man that always spoke his mind. He was always very welcoming and a problem solver. He had a demeanor that always made people feel safe. Rick was raised around Starve Hollow and loved the woods, always feeling like they were his safe place. He loved the outdoors, riding his tractor and working on the farm were among his favorite things to do. He was an extensive gun collector and build his own gun range on the farm, also very proud of his 300 yard target, complete with gong to let you know you hit the target. He was an excellent shot and very safety conscience. Rick was a very hard worker and excellent provider for his family and a fiercely proud family man.

Rick will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him and each life that he touched.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 47 years, Julieanne (Miller) Ratliff of Seymour, Indiana. One daughter, Riley Day and her husband Tommy of Indianapolis, Indiana. Four sons, Justin Ratliff and his wife Jen of Columbus, Indiana, Joshua Ratliff and his wife Becky of Seymour, Indiana, Jedidiah Ratliff of Seymour, Indiana and Monte McGinnis of Seymour, Indiana.

One brother, Mike Ratliff and his wife Michelle of Brownstown, Indiana.

Twelve grandchildren, Layla Ratliff, Sophia Ratliff, Asher Ratliff, Elijah Ratliff, Olivia Ratliff, Liam Ratliff, Sid Ratliff, Zeke Ratliff, Tristan Ratliff, Lyra Day, Abraham Ratliff and Edith Day.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Timothy D. Radcliffe.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home – Seymour Chapel with a Celebration of Life to begin at 3:00 PM.

The family requests memorial donations be directed to the Indiana State Parks or charity of choice.
