Football Sectional Pairings

Seymour

The Owls football team found out Sunday who it is playing in the first round of the Class 5A Sectional 15.

Seymour will head to Columbus East for a rematch with the Olympians on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. The winner will face Bloomington South or Bloomington North the following Friday.

The Owls still have to face Bloomington South in the final week of the regular season. The game will take place this Friday at 7 p.m. at Bloomington High School South.

Brownstown Central

The Braves will face off with Indianapolis Scecina in the Class 2A Sectional 39 on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.

The winner will face Triton Central or Clarksville the following week. Brownstown, Scecina and Triton Central have all been in the top 10 of Class 2A all season. The Braves still have their final regular-season game against Scottsburg on Friday.

Sectional volleyball

Sectional volleyball begins this week with all five Jackson County teams in action.

Brownstown Central

The Braves will begin action on Tuesday against Henryville. The sectional is being hosted by Henryville, and the game will take place at 7 p.m.

The winner will face Paoli on Saturday at 11 a.m. The championship will then take place on Saturday evening at 6 p.m.

Crothersville, Trinity Lutheran and Medora

The Tigers will face off with New Washington on Thursday at Medora High School at 7 p.m. Trinity Lutheran will play the winner of that game. The Cougars will play at noon Saturday. If the Cougars win, they will face the winner of Medora and Rising Sun in the championship.

Medora sits at the top of the bracket, hosting Rising Sun in the semifinals.

If the Hornets can pull out the win, they’ll need one more win to grab a sectional title.

Seymour

The Owls will host a sectional this year, facing New Albany in the first round on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The winner has a date with Jennings County on Saturday at 11 a.m. The winner of that contest will play in the championship on Saturday evening at 6 p.m.

Bedford North Lawrence will face Jeffersonville on the other side of the bracket. That game will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The winner faces Floyd Central on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. with the winner heading to the championship.

Sectional cross country

Crothersville

The Tigers will compete in the Southwestern (Hanover) Sectional on Saturday at Hanover College. The boys race starts at 9 a.m. with the girls following at 9:45 a.m.

Brownstown Central

The Braves will compete at Bedford North Lawrence on Saturday. The meeting will take place at Bedford North Lawrence High School, starting at 10:30 a.m. with the boys race. The girls will follow at 11:15 a.m.

Seymour and Trinity Lutheran

The Owls and Cougars will both compete in Brown County on Saturday morning. The meet will be at Eagle Park, starting at 10:30 a.m. with the boys race. The girls will follow at 11:15 a.m.
