Crothersville school board meets

The Crothersville Community School Corp. board of education met Oct. 4 at the central administration building.

The board approved accepting the letter of retirement for Terry Richey, the corporation’s treasurer, effective June 30, 2024; resignation of Logan Oakes as the high school History Club sponsor effective immediately; and resignation of Jeremy Gibson as junior high girls basketball coach effective immediately. All passed on 4-0 votes with Jimmy Shirley absent.

The board also approved to nonrenew the contract of Greg Jones as high school softball coach for the 2024 sports season as recommended by Athletic Director Jacob Dunn. That also was approved 4-0.

The 2024 budget, capital projects plan and bus replacement plan had been advertised, and they were adopted by the board.

Superintendent Chrystal Street announced radio and television stations will be used this winter in case of inclement weather closings or delays.

Street also presented the Student of the Month award to Lyra Hernandez.

During board communications, Vice President Tiffany Reynolds announced The Helping Hearts coat drive is underway. New and gently used coats are being accepted for Crothersville students.
