Girls soccer

Trinity Lutheran

Trinity hosted Southwestern (Hanover) on Monday. It was Senior Night, and the Cougars delivered with a 4-1 victory.

Trinity was supposed to face Greenwood Christian Academy and Indianapolis Lutheran this week, but those games were canceled.

Sectional starts Oct. 2, but the girls won’t play until Oct. 5. Trinity will compete with Austin, Providence, Brown County and Southwestern (Hanover).

The girls will face the winner of Brown County and Southwestern (Hanover) on Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran High School.

Boys soccer

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars traveled to Henryville on Monday for a matchup. The team would not be successful in their efforts, losing the game 6-2.

Trinity now prepares to host sectional starting on Oct. 2. Opposing teams will be Austin, Christian Academy of Indiana, Eastern Greene, Henryville, Lanesville and Rock Creek Academy.

Boys cross country

The Cougars boys competed at the New Washington Invitational on Tuesday. The girls race would not take place.

Leading the way for the Cougars was Rylan Adair placing 18th, Braxton Sinclair 28th, Stephen Trager 37th and Sam Dyer 42nd.

Volleyball

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars hosted Greensburg on Tuesday in volleyball. In an absolute thrilling match, Trinity edged the opposition in five sets. The Cougars won the matchup with Greensburg, 22-25, 26-24, 19-25, 25-14, and 15-13. Trinity now improves to 15-10 on the season, and is currently 4th ranked in Class 1A.

Soccer

Trinity hosting soccer sectionals

Pairings have been announced for the Class 1A boys and girls soccer sectionals that Trinity Lutheran will host beginning Monday.

The Trinity boys will face Henryville in the opening match at 7 p.m. Monday. That will be followed by Rock Creek and Eastern Greene at 7 p.m. On Tuesday night, Christian Academy will battle Austin at 5 p.m.

The girls sectional will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday with Brown County playing Southwestern (Hanover) at 7 p.m.

The boys sectional resumes Wednesday with Lanesville playing the winner of the Trinity-Henryville match at 5 p.m. At 7 p.m. Wednesday, the winner of the Rock Creek-Eastern match will face the winner of the Christian Academy-Austin match.

The girls sectional continues Thursday with Austin playing Providence at 5 p.m., followed by Trinity playing the Brown County-Southwestern winner. The championship matches will be played Saturday with the boys starting at 2 p.m. and the girls playing at 7 p.m.

Seymour faces Floyd Central

The Seymour boys soccer team will face Floyd Central at 7 p.m. Monday in the Jeffersonville Class 3A sectional.

Jeffersonville will battle Jennings County at 5 p.m. Monday. The tournament continues Wednesday with the Monday winners playing at 5 p.m., followed by Bedford North Lawrence playing New Albany at 7 p.m.

Boys tennis

Trinity Lutheran will face Bedford North Lawrence in the opening round of the Seymour boys tennis sectional tournament at 5 p.m. today.

Seymour will face Jennings County, and Brownstown Central will play the winner of the Trinity-BNL match on Thursday. The winners of the Thursday matches will play Friday in the championship match.
