Boys cross country

Crothersville

On Saturday, the Tigers traveled to Hanover College to compete in the Duke Meyer XC Classic.

Leading the charge for Crothersville was Dirk Crater, who finished in fourth place with a time of 16:51.10. Koby Davis followed, setting a personal-record time of 17:45.20 and a 14th-place finish.

Beau Napier finished 40th with a PR of 19:13.70. Kaleb Moeller also set a personal best with a 20:06.60 and 54th-place finish. Brayden Heath followed in 55th with a personal-record time of 20:08.80. Corey Reynolds recorded a personal-best time of 27:00.80 with a 96th-place finish. Gage Howard finished in 100th for Crothersville with a time of 32:35.40.

Boys tennis

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars hosted Indianapolis Lutheran on Monday, and they dominated the matchup, winning 4-1.

Trinity No.1 Solomon Hall downed J.T. Anderson 6-1, 6-2. No. 2 Jack Stuckwisch defeated Jason Bolton 6-0, 6-1. Noah Street of Lutheran won the match over Trinity’s Will Gausmann 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (8).

In doubles action, Trinity’s Nathan Finke and Jonathan Neawedde dominated Josh Fink and Joe Amstutder 6-1, 6-0. Drew Kerkhof and Luke Schepman defeated Braylon Straw and Biak Hleithawn 6-2, 6-1.

Girls’ Soccer

Trinity Lutheran

Trinity hosted Southwestern (Hanover) on Monday in a matchup of girls soccer. It was senior night and the Cougars delivered with a 4-1 victory. Trinity was supposed to face the Greenwood Christian Academy and Lutheran High School of Indianapolis this week, but those games were canceled. Sectionals are now upon us, starting on Oct. 2nd, but the girls won’t play until Oct. 5th. Trinity will compete with Austin, Providence, Brown County, and Southwestern (Hanover) in the

Boys’ Soccer

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars boys’ soccer team traveled to Henryville on Monday for a matchup. The team would not be successful in their efforts, losing the game, 6-2.

Trinity now prepares to host sectionals starting on Oct. 2nd. Opposing teams will be, Austin, Christian Academy of Indiana, Eastern Greene, Henryville, Lanesville, and Rock Creek Academy.

Brownstown Central

The Braves traveled to Madison on Monday for a matchup. Brownstown won 3-2, improving to 11-6 so far during the 2023 season.

Madison No. 1 Kaid Fink defeated Smith Hackman, winning 7-6 (7-4), 6-1. Pierson Wheeler of Brownstown won his match over Bryce Miller 6-0, 6-2. No. 3 Lane Steward won his contest over Mitchell Commack 6-3, 6-4.

The teams split the doubles matches. Abe Reetz and Bodie Harsin of Madison defeated Chase Brock and Evan Schneider 6-3, 6-1. Max Peters and Brady Davis secured the match win for the Braves over Tucker Whitmer and Briar Bolden, winning 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Sectional news

Trinity Lutheran will face Bedford North Lawrence in the opening round of the Seymour boys tennis sectional tournament at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Seymour will face Jennings County and Brownstown Central will play the winner of the Trinity-BNL match on Thursday. The winners of the Thursday matches will play Friday in the championship match.
