SEYMOUR

Jeremy Wischmeier, age 42, of Seymour, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023, at IU Health Methodist in Indianapolis surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Wischmeier had a strong faith, and he was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, Seymour, since 2007.

During his teaching career at the high school, he founded Seymour High School Carr Club and Owl Manufacturing. Jeremy thought of Seymour High School as his “second home”. As a dedicated teacher, he spent countless hours helping students excel in the classroom and in life endeavors.

Jeremy cherished his family, and he especially loved family vacations at the beach. He enjoyed history, restoring vintage cars, hunting, fishing, trap shooting, and beekeeping. He lived by the theory “that one can never have too many guns or cars”.

He was currently serving as a Director of Dudleytown Conservation Club and Jackson County Beekeeper. He was also an Eagle Scout, a lifetime member of FFA, and he was passionate about 4-H.

Jeremy’s saying in life was “Negative Ghostrider – the Pattern is Full”.

Born on January 13, 1981, in Seymour, Jeremy was the son of Loren and Elizabeth (Snyder) Wischmeier, both of whom survive in Seymour. On June 21, 2003, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, he married Denise Cockerham, and she survives in Seymour.

(Aby) Wischmeier of Greenwood; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steve and Clara Cockerham of Seymour; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and students, who were like family.

Jeremy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Melvin and Emy Lou Wischmeier; maternal grandparents, Wayne and Eula Snyder; and grandfathers-in-law and grandmothers-in-law: Walter and Willadean “Billie” Cockerham, and Kenneth and Clara Brooks.
