Volleyball

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars hosted Jennings County, New Washington and Mitchell on Saturday.

Trinity defeated the Panther  24-26, 25-22, 15-7 before defeating New Washington 25-4, and 25-14. The girls dropped their contest with Mitchell in three sets, losing 25-18, 21-25, 13-15.

Boys soccer

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars battled in two games on Saturday at Trinity Lutheran High School.

After losing to Rock Creek in the first game 5-4, the boys were able to bounce back and defeat Lanesville 6-1.

Seymour

The Owls hosted Bloomington North on Saturday morning at The Nest.

The teams ended in a 1-1 draw. David Polbito scored the lone goal for the Owls, assisted by Jaret Dominguez. Polbito found the net in the 76th minute.

Lance Hubbard recorded 10 saves for the Owls.

Seymour is now at 7-5-2 on the season and 3-2 in the Hoosier Hills Conference. The next matchup takes place on Thursday against Bedford North Lawrence, which will be Senior Night for the Owls. Varsity starts at 7 p.m. with JV taking place at 5:30 p.m.

Girls soccer

Seymour

The Owls traveled to Franklin on Saturday and lost 2-0.

Elizabeth Trueblood grabbed nine saves for the team in the loss.

The JV team grabbed a 2-1 win over Franklin, both goals coming from Kenzie Hinkle. Owls goalkeeper Cheyanne Givens recorded seven saves for Seymour.

The team will host Madison on Monday at Seymour High School at 6 p.m.

The girls also got the news of their sectional draw, which starts Oct. 3 at Bedford North Lawrence. The Owls will face Floyd Central in the first round. The time for the game will be announced at a later date.

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars traveled to North Harrison on Saturday, dropping the matchup 1-0.

The team will host Southwestern (Hanover) on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Girls golf

Brownstown Central and Seymour

Brownstown Central and Seymour competed for the chance to advance to the state finals on Sept. 29 and 30. The regional took place Saturday at Country Oaks Golf Club in Washington.

The Braves advanced to the regional competition as a team, while Katie Cottrill represented the Owls.

Unfortunately, neither side would advance to the state competition. Brownstown finished in ninth place with a team score of 389.

Gracie Reynolds led the way for Brownstown with her score of 84. Abby Schroer followed with 99, Khloe Lingenfelter finished with 101, while Megan VonDielingen carded 105 for the Braves. Jayda Clodfelder recorded 106 on the day.

Cottrill carded 104 for the Owls in the meet. She finished the front nine with 51 before following that up with 53 on the back nine.

Cross country

Seymour and Brownstown

Seymour and Brownstown competed in the Ted Fox Memorial Invitational on Saturday in Bedford.

The Braves finished fifth for the boys and 11th for the girls. Seymour finished seventh for the boys and fourth for the girls.

Seymour’s Vivienne Siefker finished in second place for the Owls on the girls’ side, speeding to a time of 20:02.02. Gracie Adams followed in 17th place for the Owls with a time of 21:26.90. AnnMarie Shuler finished 33rd, clocking 22:06.61. Lauren Dowell finished 49th for Seymour with a time of 23:01.26. Alexis Stuckwisch ended her run in 83rd with a time of 26:23.53. Brylee Ramsey finished in 91st with a time of 26:59.74. Genesis Zarate finished in 101st with a time of 27:25.90.

Brownstown scored 262, edging out Borden and Charlestown. Kelsey Schneider finished in 41st with a time of 22:38.12. Trinity Cody finished in 44th with a time of 22:53.73. Tori Lokey was in 51st and Claire Schepman 81st. Chelsie Combs finished the race in 85th with a time of 26:29.18 for Brownstown. Maddie Singleton rounded out the Braves with a 98th-place finish and a time of 27:16.11.

For the boys’ side, Brownstown scored 158, while Seymour had 184.

The Braves were led by Shane and Chance Ratliff, who finished in sixth and seventh place for Brownstown Central. Shane’s time was 16:48.20 with Chance finishing in 16:49.55. Traven Wellman followed in 39th, while Eli Crockett finished in 49th with a time of 18:49.35. Damien Owens finished in 66th and Garrett Driver 82nd. Brady Blann finished his race in 137th for the Braves.

Micah Jablonski led the way for Seymour with his 30th-place finish and a time of 17:49.37. Will and Wes Proffer followed in 32nd and 35th. Will recorded a time of 17:54.20, and Wes finished with a 17:55.59. Ty Tormoehlen finished in 41st with a time of 18:08.01. Kylan Ellerbe then finished in 55th, clocking 19:01.90. Landon Rivera finished in 67th with a time of 19:19.73, while Lucas Jablonski finished in 69th with a time of 19:24.21.
