SEYMOUR

Randall K. Freeman, 67, passed away at IU Methodist Hospital on Sept. 17, 2023, after a sudden brief illness. He was born on June 16, 1956, to Mary Louise and Willard Ray Freeman in Columbus, Indiana.

Randy graduated from Seymour High School in 1974. Following in his father’s footsteps, Randy was most known for his work in construction and concrete. He owned his own concrete/construction business and did many concrete jobs locally and around the state for over 40 years. He had many occupations over the years. The first and most memorable was working for Mr. Parker at Parker Jewelry. He wasn’t afraid of hard work and would give almost anything a try, even substitute teaching! Another favorite was working at the Pizza Palace as a young man. He worked for the state highway department and plowed snow in the winter among other duties. He enjoyed working for Sherman Williams and moved for a time to the Lebanon area. He was happy to return home to Seymour and spent most of his life here. Randy dearly loved all his family- his children, his aunts and uncles and many cousins. He always had a story and loved meeting new people. Randy did not know a stranger.

He loved working on equipment with his buddies and talking over the best way to make this machine run or how to kill those weeds. He enjoyed watching all the current sports (IU basketball, Colts, Nascar…). He listened to Seymour sports on the radio whenever he could.

Randy was one of a kind who will be missed by many. He had a kind heart that some were blessed to see. If you needed a hand, he was ready.

Randy is survived by his wife Lisa and sons, Will Freeman, Brent (Andrea Weiler) Freeman, Sam Freeman and James (Riley Eder) Freeman. He is also survived by his brother, Roland (Carol) Freeman and a sister, Marlene (Don) Ruwe.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mary Freeman and his sister, Tonja Blish.
