Curtis Lee Bearden, 53, of Seymour, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 16, 2023. He was born on January 12, 1970, in Jackson County, he was the son of Robert “Bob” Lee Bearden and Connie Marie (Haws) Bearden Stockhover. In 1998, he married Rebecca R. Smith, the mother of his only son, Dylan Levi Bearden.

Curtis was a 1988 graduate of Seymour High School. He worked as a self-employed contractor and would go out of his way to help anyone in need. His hobby was collecting miscellaneous items and flipping these items from “trash” into “treasures.” He often said, “If I don’t have it, you don’t need it.”

Curtis was a member of the Seymour Fraternal Order of the Eagles #655 and attended Christ Covenant Church in Seymour. He enjoyed social gatherings and will be remembered for his storytelling, witty remarks, and humor.

Curtis is survived by his mother, Connie Marie Stockhover of Port St. Lucie, FL; son, Dylan Levi Bearden of Seymour, IN; stepdaughter, Ashley Ann Loutner of Seymour, IN; brother, Ricky (Glenda) Bearden of North Vernon, IN; step-brother, David (Debbie) Stockhover of Columbus, IN; nephew, Cody Bearden of Port St. Lucie, FL; niece, Whitney (Blake) Otte of Brownstown, IN; step-niece, Holly (Dalton) Tucker of Edinburgh, IN; several aunts, uncles, extended family and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Bearden; stepfather, Marcus Stockhover; maternal grandparents, Herman and Roxie (Wilkerson) Haws; paternal grandparents, Robert O. Bearden and Rachel Cameron-Bearden Goodwin; and step-nephew, Nate Stockhover.

A celebration of life for Curtis will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Voss and Sons Funeral Home in Seymour with Pastor Rick Prather officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour. The family will meet friends on Friday, September 22, 2023, from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
