Everett Ray Shields, 78, of Medora, suddenly passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at 8:15 a.m., in his room at the Covered Bridge Health Campus, Seymour, IN.
Everett was born on February 21, 1945, to the late Everett Shields &Correne Hughes Shields. He was a 1963 graduate of Medora High School and a member of the Indiana National Guard. He married Judith Ann Simmons Shields, and she preceded him in death on October 28, 1990.
Everett retired from Cummins Engine Company after 47 years and 7 months. His work there was very important to him, and he worked all the overtime that was ever offered to him. After his retirement, he enjoyed helping his brother Joe with Randy’s Market catering. Everett also refereed Boys &Girls IHSAA basketball for over 50 years.
Everett is survived by his brother &best friend, Joe S. Shields.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Funeral services for Everett will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with Stan Thomas officiating. Friends may visit on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Four Corners. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery or to White River Valley Cemetery.
