SEYMOUR

Jackie Maxie Sr., a native of Connersville, Indiana and a resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Schneck Medical Center. He was born on February 1, 1956 to the late Cecil Maxie and the late America Geneva (Jarvis) Maxie.

Jackie was a Christian by faith. He was the former owner of Max’s Clubhouse and for almost fifty years he was the owner of Maxie Home Service in Seymour. Jackie was a very social man that loved people and would do whatever he could to help those in need. He never met a stranger and had a smile that would light up a room. He had a huge impact on the people he would serve with his ethics and workmanship. He loved to tell people that he was “a jack of all trades and master of none”, yet he was an excellent craftsman. He took great pride on his lawn and making sure that is was meticulously manicured to his standards. Family was his world and of all the things he enjoyed, at the top of the list was sitting with his grandbabies by the firepit roast marshmallows and going to the zoo. He was a beloved husband, father and Papaw and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him and each life that he touched in his own special way.

On September 15, 1973, he married the love of his life, Rhonda (Marcum) Maxie of Seymour, Indiana. He is also survived by his one son, Jackie Maxie Jr. and his wife April of Seymour, Indiana and two daughters, Geneva Atwood and her husband James of Seymour, Indiana and Kymberli Taggart and her Partner Larry Harrison of Brownstown, Indiana. One brother, Paul Maxie and his wife Brenda of Connersville, Indiana. One sister, Sandra Hardin and her husband Gary of Everton, Indiana. Thirteen grand children and ten great grandchildren with one on the way that affectionately called him “Papaw”.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lois Hunter and Alma Faye Maxie.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Christensen Family Funeral Home, Seymour Chapel with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM. Pastor Johnnie Spivey, Jess Moss and Bro Gary “Hoppy” Hopkins will officiate.
