Brownstown Central

The Brownstown Central volleyball team hosted New Albany on Thursday.

The Braves emerged victorious, winning the match 25-19, 21-25, 25-21, 25-19.

Sophie Wischmeier recorded four aces for the Braves. Alex Davidson had two and Finley Wheeler recorded one as well for Brownstown.

Wischmeier also recorded the most kills with 23. Addie Darlage added nine, while Kinzee Dean recorded seven.

The Brownstown Central JV team won their matchup, as well. The Braves won the first set 25-16 before dropping the second set 25-21. Brownstown won the third set 15-10 to claim victory.

Boys tennis

Trinity Lutheran

The Trinity Lutheran Cougars traveled to Waldron on Thursday to compete in boys tennis.

The team dropped the matchup 5-0. Waldron No. 1 Lucas Shaw defeated Solomon Hall 6-3, 7-5. Waldron No. 2 Charlie Fischer defeated Jack Stuckwisch in straight sets 7-5, 6-3. Caiden Young then defeated Luke Shepman of Trinity, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles action, Jacob Lindsey and Jack Fischer of Waldron defeated Nathan Finke and Jonathan Naewedde 6-4, 6-4. The No. 2 tandem of Jackson Kuhn and Matthew Thomas downed Drew Kerkhof and Will Gausmann 6-3, 6-1.

Girls golf

Brownstown Central

The Braves girls golf team faced off against Bloomington South and Mitchell on Thursday at Bloomington Country Club.

South won the meet with a team score of 172. Brownstown followed with 188, while Mitchell finished third with 236.

For Brownstown, Gracie Reynolds led the way with 42, while Jayda Clodfelder scored 43. Khloe Lingenfelter carded 50 for the Braves. Megan VonDielingen and Abby Schroer rounded out the scores with 53 and 54, respectively.

Events that weren’t covered in today’s paper from Thursday will be featured in Saturday’s paper.
