Phillip D. Darlage, age 75, of Brownstown, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at his home.

Mr. Darlage was baptized in faith on May 30, 1948, confirmed on April 15, 1962, and married on February 7, 1970, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers. He later became a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Brownstown.

Phil treasured spending time with his family, and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He particularly enjoyed watching them excel in raising and showing cattle.

Mr. Darlage was a lifetime electrical contractor, and he was passionate about working hard to support his family. He founded Darlage Show Supply, where he worked alongside his wife, son, and grandchildren. Phil also was a very talented organist and played for many church events in southern Indiana.

Born on May 12, 1948, in Seymour, Phil was the son of Herbert and Mary (Wischmeier) Darlage, both of whom preceded him in death. On February 7, 1970, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, he married Diane Rieckers, and she survives in Brownstown.

Survivors also include one son, Andrew (Lora) Darlage of Brownstown; three grandchildren: Lainey (Justin) Bright of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Keeli Darlage of Brownstown, and Luke Darlage of Brownstown; two great-grandchildren: Laurel Bright and Jenna Bright, both of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; and three brothers: Don (Judy) Darlage of Brownstown, Leroy Darlage of Seymour, and David (Becky) Darlage of Seymour.

In addition to both parents, Phil was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Erma Darlage; two sisters: Ruth Lambring and Lois Nierman; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Omer and Wilma Rieckers.

Funeral services for Phillip D. Darlage will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Brownstown, with Pastor Ryan Schneider officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Brownstown.

Interment will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Brownstown.

Memorials may be given to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Brownstown, Living Word Church, Aurora, Indiana, or Faith Lutheran Church, Madison, Indiana.
