The Columbus Symphony Orchestra will celebrate its 101st anniversary during the 2023-24 season entitled “The Next CSO Century: A Music Director Search Year.”

The orchestra provides the Columbus community and the surrounding counties with accessible and affordable classical music performances.

The volunteer musicians represent a diverse selection of ages, skill sets and backgrounds and share a desire to pursue lifelong learning through music.

Patrons can expect to attend five concerts throughout the season, all of which will take place at The Commons Custer and Nugent Performance Hall at 3:30 p.m.

The CSO has selected four candidates to serve as finalists in the search for their next music director: Diego Barbosa-Vasquez, David Borman, Elliott Lentz and William McClain.

Each of these candidates will serve as a guest conductor at one of the upcoming concerts this season.

Season tickets may be purchased in advance at csoindiana.org. The cost is $50 for adult season tickets and $30 for senior and student season tickets. Children 12 and under are free.

Season tickets grant admission to all concerts that charge an admission fee and save frequent concertgoers $10 throughout the season. Individual concert tickets also may be purchased in advance online or at the door.

Tickets this year will cost $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students regardless if they’re purchased online or at the door. Children 12 and under always receive free admission.

Follow the CSO on Facebook (@CSOIndiana) and Instagram (@csoindiana) for information about the orchestra and the season.

The orchestra is seeking musicians who play violin, viola, cello, bass, oboe, clarinet, French horn, bassoon, trumpet and percussion. If you would like more information about joining the orchestra, contact the board of directors at [email protected].

Rehearsals for the 2023-24 season will resume from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 5 in the Central Middle School band room.

Auditions are not required.
