BROWNSTOWN
Kevin Duane Tormoehlen, age 57, of Brownstown, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023.
Mr. Tormoehlen had a strong faith, and he was a life-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan.
Kevin graduated from Lutheran Central School in 1980, and he was a 1984 graduate of Brownstown Central High School. He was also a former member of the Lutheran Dart ball league.
Mr. Tormoehlen was a life-long, self-employed grain and livestock farmer, working daily alongside his parents and his son. He was also a logger with his father during high school and following his graduation, and he sawed lumber on his Wood-Mizer sawmill. He loved spending time on the farm with his family, especially with his grandchildren, to whom he was known as “Pappy”.
Kevin was loved beyond measure by his wife, Margaret, parents, children, and grandchildren, and he treasured spending time with his family. Family was important to him. Kevin also enjoyed attending tractor pulls as a family, going to Poplar Street with family and friends to listen to live bands, and watching I.U. basketball.
Born on January 10, 1966, in Seymour, Kevin was the son of Glenn and Carol (Bobb) Tormoehlen, both of whom survive in Brownstown. On October 11, 1986, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, he married Margaret Hilleke, and she survives in Brownstown.
Survivors also include one son, Kyle Louis (Dr. Kristin) Tormoehlen of Brownstown; one daughter, Kelli Rene Tormoehlen of Crothersville; two sisters: Karen Black of Seymour, and Kathy Jo (Bobby) Brown of Seymour; three grandchildren: Cali Brooke Plumer, Grayson Louis Tormoehlen, and Tate Allen Tormoehlen; three nephews: Aaron (Brandy) Black, Kaleb Brown, and Brody Brown; one niece, Kirstie (Joe) Osborn; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Kevin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Henry and Opal Bobb; paternal grandparents, Louis and Lena Tormoehlen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Geneva Hilleke; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Funeral services for Kevin Duane Tormoehlen will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, with Pastor Joel Meyer officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan.
Interment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, Lutheran Central School Scholarship Granting Organization, Immanuel Lutheran School Scholarship Granting Organization, or Donor’s choice.
