Violet Kay (Wessel) Wischmeier, of Brownstown passed away peacefully on the late evening of August 13, 2023, at IU Bedford Hospital with her family by her side. She was 78 years old.

Violet entered this life on December 29, 1944, in Tampico, Indiana. She was one of thirteen children born to the loving parents, Wilbert H. and Viola (Steinkamp) Wessel. Violet spent her entire life in Jackson County. She was a graduate of the Tampico High School, Class of 1962. On April 20, 1968, At St. Johns Sauers Lutheran Church she married the love of her life Robert “Bob” Wischmeier. This union of over 55 years and was blessed with four children, Douglas Brian, Roberta Kay, Susan Rae, and Ralph Henry. Douglas passed on January 7, 2020, and Ralph passed on May 24, 2023.

She was a member of the St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brownstown. Violet was a Bank Customer Service Associate. She worked for Fidelity Bank, Home Federal Bank, and retired from Old National Bank in 2014.

Violet is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” Wischmeier of Brownstown, children, Roberta Main and her husband Kevin of Seymour, Susan Kaiser and her husband Troy of Seymour, and a daughter-in-law Anne Wischmeier of Charlestown, seven grandchildren Clayton Main, Clint Main, Cole Fosbrink, Carly Kaiser, Trista Wischmeier, Travis Wischmeier and Shana Wischmeier, four brothers, Lelard Wessel of Seymour, Kelso Wessel and his wife Judy of Columbus, OH, William “Bill” Wessel of Brownstown, and Ivan Wessel and his wife Shirley of Brownstown, two sisters, Audra Deaton and her husband Mike of Depauw, Indiana and Opal Roark and her husband Ron of Scottsburg, and a sister-in-law Donna Wessel of Brownstown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Kenneth Wessel, Wilbert Wessel, Jr. Edward Wessel, Debron Wessel, and Walter Ralph Wessel, and a sister Rosa Nell, sisters-in-law Eunice Wessel, Juanita Wessel, Bernice Wessel, Mary Lou Wessel, and Wilma Wessel.

Funeral Service will be conducted at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brownstown on Saturday August 19, 2023, at 11:00 am with Pastor Ryan Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery of Brownstown.

Friends may call at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Saturday August 19, 2023, from 9:00 am until the service at 11:00 am.

Memorials may be written in Violet’s name to St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Final services have been entrusted to Zabel Funeral Home of Brownstown.
