Seymour golf team opens season at Bloomington

The Seymour girls golf team shot a score of 468 to place 15th in the Bloomington South Invitational on Monday at Bloomington Country Club.

Katie Cottrill had the low score for the Owls at 107. She was followed by Shana Spray at 108, Emmy Followell at 126, Caroline Dennis at 127 and Emily Windley at 133.

Carmel won the 17-team event with a score of 303, Center Grove shot a 308 and Noblesville was third at 318.

Other Hoosier Hills Conference teams in the tournament were Floyd Central, sixth at 340, and Bedford North Lawrence, seventh at 360.

Carmel had the top two individuals with Claire Swathwood at 70 and Michaela Hedlee with a 71. The third medalist was Lexi Stuart of Center Grove with 73.

The Owls, along with Brownstown Central and Trinity Lutheran, are playing in the Seymour Invitational today at Shadowood Golf Course. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. Center Grove also is in the nine-team tournament.
