The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department plans to announce a new program that treats opioid addiction.
According to a news release from Jail Commander Chris Everhart, this groundbreaking program will support those in need in the jail after their release by connecting them with vital services as they build a new life.
The media is invited to the press conference at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Jackson County Jail, 150 E. State Road 250, Brownstown.
A participant in the program will tell her personal story of how it is helping her on the path to recovery and a brighter future.
Other speakers will include Doug Huntsinger, executive director for drug prevention, treatment and enforcement; Sheriff Rick Meyer; Indiana State Sheriffs’ Association President Steve Luce; Everhart; Lindsay Sarver, community health improvement strategist for Healthy Jackson County; and leaders of this program.
