Sylvia Davidson England, of Medora, passed away on the evening of July 3, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital of Indianapolis with her loving family by her side. She was 87 years old.

Sylvia entered this life on June 21, 1936, in Oneida, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Ciller (McQueen) Davidson. She was the sister to Edith, Blane, Dallas, Clarence, Dessi and Pam. She grew up in Medora and graduated from Medora Community School in 1953 at the age of 16. On July 31, 1954, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church she was united in marriage to Leslie England. He survives. From this union of over 68 years, they were blessed with three boys, Robin, David, and Kenny.

Sylvia was a devoted wife, loving mother, and Grandma. When it came to being a Grandma, this was the role that Sylvia loved the most. She loved to get down in the floor and play games with her grandbabies. She loved to travel and go try different restaurants with Les. She had a giving soul and loved to cook. She would often cook large meals, because no one needed to leave hungry. Her generosity in giving extended beyond her dining table, she was a charter member of the “Hope” Medora Goes Pink, and a charter member of the Carr Township Foundation. On these committees, Sylvia was able to help many families and local organizations with their financial needs. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Medora.

She worked at the Shirt Factory of Seymour, United Plastics of Medora, Marion Kay Spices of Brownstown, Dura of Brownstown and Hendricks Box of Seymour.

She leaves a legacy of love with her family, husband Leslie England of Medora, sons, Robin England and his wife Mary of Medora, David England and his wife Jan of Medora, and Kenny England and his wife Bonnie of Medora, grandchildren, Ian England and his wife Katie of Brownstown, Holly Tullar and her husband Brian of Phoenix, AZ, Erin Sweany and her husband Jeff of Middletown, OH, Nathan Sweany and his wife Kara of Columbus, Ashley England of Hayden, Jessica England of Medora, Tiara Drake of Columbus, Kazia Humphrey and her husband Blaine of Christiana, PA , Kristopher England and his wife Starla of Medora, and Eva Hessig and her husband Matt of Medora, two brothers, Dallas Davidson of Medora, Clarence Davidson of Hayden, sisters, Dessi Byarlay and her husband Ron of Medora and Pam Blair and her husband Steve of Medora and 19 great-grandchildren with another on the way, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister Edith Hill and a brother Blane Davidson.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Medora with Vicar Janis Mikits officiating. The burial will follow at Weddleville Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may visit at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Saturday from 11:00 am until the service time at 2:00pm.

Memorials may be written in Sylvia’s name to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Medora.
