Virgil Schulte, 93, of Seymour passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at his home. He was born December 26, 1929 in Seymour, Indiana to Albert and Amelia Eggersman Schulte. Virgil graduated from Shields High School and was awarded a track scholarship to Western Kentucky University where he received his bachelor’s degree. He also attended Indiana University. He served in the US Army and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Elks and American Legion. He worked as a teacher, principal and basketball coach at Vallonia High School and was later employed as the general manager of the Boron Stop 50 Truck Stop for 22 years. Virgil married Doris Colovos on May 28, 1955 and was a dedicated family man. He was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing, golfing and cooking.

Surviving to cherish Virgil’s memories are his wife and his son, Mike (Dennis Youngs) Schulte. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Henry “Hank” Schulte and Bill Schulte.

Friends may visit with Virgil’s family from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 605 S. Walnut Street, Seymour, IN 47274. The funeral will follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, Rev. Philip Bloch, Rev. James Rodriquez, Rev. William Fredstrom and Vicar Case Farney officiating.
