NORTH VERNON
Linda M. Day, 79, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:50 a.m., on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Our Hospice of Southern Indiana in Columbus.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Connie Barr will officiate. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2023 and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Born on June 14, 1944, in Columbus, Linda was the loving daughter of Millard Emerson Morrison and Regina Elizabeth (McKnight) Morrison. She was united in marriage to John E. Day on June 23, 1962. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2002.
Linda was a 1962 graduate of Vernon High School. Post-graduation, Linda became a member of the Columbia Extension Homemakers. She was a former leader of the Zenas Livewires 4-H Club and a longtime supporter of 4-H. She was a member of New Bethel United Methodist Church and also attended Alert United Methodist Church. Linda had a generous heart and strived to make a difference in her community. She was a member of the Women’s Giving Circle of Jennings County. Linda was a lifelong supporter of the Park Theatre, whether it be attending movies as a child, contributing to its renovation, or attending plays and movies whenever she could. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She devoted her life to raising her family and her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren raise their children. During quiet moments, Linda enjoyed tending to her patio flowers and watching her hummingbirds and butterflies. In recent years, Linda enjoyed traveling.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Heida (Rodney) Garrett of North Vernon, and Rosanna (Jan) Day of North Vernon; son, Terry (Tamara) Day of North Vernon; sister, Darlene Blancett of Columbus; grandchildren, Danielle Lynch, Johnathan and Samantha Garrett, Janaye Dalrymple, Randi Hughes, Cole and Steele Day; great grandchildren, Alexis, Raelyn, and Rieleh Hughes, Kasen and Corbin Lynch, and Stella Garrett; bonus daughter, Charla Nash and her daughters, Cassie and Tori Nash; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Regina Elizabeth Morrison; Husband, John Day; sister, Gleama Morrison; brother, Roscoe Verlin Morrison; companion, Charles “Bill” Robbins whom passed away on September 5, 2022.
