Trinity advances in sectional

The Trinity Lutheran softball team advanced to the sectional championship after defeating Henryville 7-3 on Tuesday night.

Bailey Tabeling led the Cougars with three hits, while Grace Lance and Addie Keaton both had two hits, and Madison Keith, Maddie Adams, Dianna Munoz, Olivia Cain and Rowan Sharp each had one hit.

Keaton had two RBI, and Tabeling, Lance, Keith and Sharp all had one RBI.

Lance pitched all seven innings and struck out nine batters.

The Cougars (15-10) will meet Rising Sun in the sectional championship on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Shiners’ field.

Rising Sun beat New Washington on Monday 19-0 and was scheduled to play Crothersville on Tuesday, but the Tigers had to forfeit due to injuries, which caused them to not have enough players to start the game.

Golf

Owls top Stars, Pioneers

The Seymour boys golf team had a good day at home against Bedford North Lawrence and Providence on Tuesday as the Owls shot a 163 to edge the Stars (164) and Pioneers (168).

Manny Fontanez led Seymour with a 37, Luke Baker shot a 40, Ty Stuckwisch and Trevor Alberring both shot 43s, Noah Surface 46 and Zach Krete 55.

Seymour will host Brownstown Central one week from Tuesday.

Braves beat Cubs

The Brownstown Central boys golf team shot a 155 on Tuesday to edge out Madison, which shot a 157.

Micah Sheffer and Caiden Gwin were co-medalists after both shooting 37s.

Chandler Stahl shot a 39, Smith Hackman 42, Carter Covert 43, Collin Downing 44, Drew Shelton 44 and Matthew Reedy 46.

The Braves will play at Seymour next Tuesday.

Cougars, Hornets play at Greenwood Christian

The Trinity Lutheran and Medora boys golf teams played at Greenwood Christian on Tuesday.

GCA shot a 175, and Trinity shot a 213.

Jack Stuckwisch shot a 49, Gabe Lorenz and Solomon Hall both shot 54s and Wylie Jones shot a 56.

Medora’s Braxton McCory shot a 51.

The Cougars and Hornets will be off until the sectional on June 5.
