The Immanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Aid 3 met recently at the Seymour church with 18 members and one guest present.

Hostesses for the evening were Carol Hill and Marlis Kilgas.

Immanuel Pastor Ralph Blomenberg opened the meeting with prayer and presented a tribute to Armed Forces Day, celebrated annually on the third Saturday in May. He discussed the way the church and Lutheran Church Missouri Synod support the day, especially through the chaplaincy program, and offered a thanks to all who serve. Chaplains deliver the word and sacrament to military personnel and their families as this is sometimes a lonesome time for them. Immanuel is represented by two chaplains, Matthew Prince and Jonathan Lorenz.

President Sandee Helwig opened the business meeting with singing of Hymn 965 “God Bless our Native Land” and reciting of Psalm 46.

Committee reports were given with several nursing home visits being made. Special honor to Don and Donna Runge, who will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary this month. Helwig reported ongoing plans for the arts and crafts show in November with spaces filling up fast.

Vice President Ann Mahan reported a new member recruitment campaign is underway with all women welcome. She also gave an update on a student from Cambodia who will soon be coming to the United States to study at Trinity Lutheran High School and has expressed a desire for the ministry.

The meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer and reciting a prayer entitled “Responsible Citizenship.”
