Brownstown beats Orleans

Brownstown Central scored pairs of runs in the first and second innings and three runs each in the fifth and sixth innings to defeat Orleans 10-2.

This was the continuation of the game that was stopped by rain on April 21.

Kelsey Schneider had two singles and a triple and scored four runs. She was also the winning pitcher, pitching seven innings while allowing four hits, two runs of which one was earned and had eight strikeouts and walked one.

Kyndle Huddleston had a double and two singles. She drove in four runs and scored one. Emily Dillman had a single and double, three RBI and scored one run, Rylee May had a double and two RBI, Olivia Justice had a double and one RBI, Adelynn Anderson had a single and scored two runs, Lizzie Pollert and Haley Derringer each scored a run and Kinzee Dean, Rylin Huddleston and Sophie Wayt each had one hit.

The Braves finished the regular season 16-9 and will play Brown Bounty in the Brownstown Sectional at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Franklin tops Seymour

Franklin scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning to break a 7-7 tie and defeat Seymour 13-9 on the Owls’ diamond.

Seymour scored five runs in the second inning, and Franklin scored four times in the third.

The Owls scored single runs in the third and fifth innings and scored twice in the seventh, but that was as close as they could get.

Addyson Coomer had two hits, while Abby Followell, Kendall Allman, Phoebe Underwood, Jamie Bobb and Delaney Warren all had one hit.

Coomer had two RBI, while Allman, Warren and Underwood each had one.

Taylor Stuckwisch had four strikeouts for the Owls, and Alexia Rieckers and Underwood also spent time in the circle.

Seymour (8-15) will finish its regular season today at Brown County, beginning at 5:30.

South Decatur defeats Crothersville

The Crothersville softball team lost 19-4 at South Decatur on Thursday night.

Kendall Berry had three hits, Zoey Prince had a double, Grace Walker had a hit and Matty Deaton had a hit.

Dacie Hughes pitched two innings, and Prince also pitched two.

The Tigers will close their regular season at home today against Eastern (Pekin).

Baseball

Hilltoppers shut out Tigers

Devin Morgan and Blake Robinson both had a hit in the game.

Lucas Hilton pitched 2.2 innings and had six strikeouts, and Morgan also had five strikeouts.

The Tigers (1-16) will close their regular season later tonight at home against South Decatur.

Cougars fall on the road

The Trinity Lutheran baseball team played at Clarksville on Thursday night, and the Generals were able to get the win 11-7.

The Cougars (12-14) will play at home later tonight against Austin.
