Faye Ray Jackson, 84, of Seymour, passed away at her home at 9:25 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2023, with family and dedicated caregivers by her side. Faye was born in Washington County, IN on December 23, 1938, to the late Leroy (Rip) Ray & Eva Wheeler Ray. She was a 1957 graduate of Vallonia High School. In 1968, she graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Education.

Faye married Larry Johnson on November 17, 1956. On August 1, 1974, she married Dr. Howard Jackson, and he preceded her in death on January 12, 2020.

Faye was a member of Central Christian Church in Seymour. She worked as a counselor at Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation and was the office manager for Dr. Howard Jackson, and later worked at the Central Christian Church Daycare. She was a part of the Indiana Women’s College Organization and a volunteer with the Seymour Girls Club. Faye enjoyed talking to everyone she encountered, working at the daycare, and taking care of her flowers.

Survivors include her 2 children: Greg Johnson of Seymour and Mitzi (Michael) Lawson of Hanover; 2 grandchildren: Nikki (Jason) Helmuth of Topeka, IN and Abby Walburn (Pietro Cannizzaro) of London, UK; 2 great grandchildren: Remington & Kimber Helmuth; a brother, Gerald (Red) Ray of Brownstown.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Ted Wheeler; and a sister, Wanda Wheeler.

Funeral services for Faye will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with Robin Everhart officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will take place at Vallonia Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Central Christian Church Daycare or to Vallonia Christian Church.
