MCDONOUGH, GA

John Edwin Godby, age 80, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023. He was born to the late James Arnold Godby and Grace Dalene Benford in West Virginia on July 14, 1942. John was also preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Marie Godby, and siblings, George Godby, Odessa Sackett, and Jim Godby. Mr. Godby loved his family very much and was a truck driver with Kroger for 25 years. He enjoyed dancing when he was younger, cutting up with everyone, and having cookouts. John is survived by his sister, Peggy (Jim) Rigsby of Madison, GA, and many nieces and nephews, especially Kristin (Chuck) Johnson of McDonough. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, Georgia. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Cana Cemetery.
