SPARKSVILLE

Connie Sue (Huffman) McVay, of Medora, passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2023 at Schneck Medical Center with her family by her side. She was 64.

Connie entered this life on October 18, 1958 in Seymour, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Lowell Dean and Anna Blanch (Wilkerson) Huffman. She was the baby sister to Beverly and Phillip. Connie grew up in Sparksville, and was a graduate of Medora High School. She met the love of her life at a young age and at the age of 16 on December 14, 1974 she was united in marriage to Lewis McVay. From this union they were blessed with children Michael, Stacy, and Stephanie. Stacy preceded in infancy.

Connie was a devoted wife, loving mother, hugging Mammaw, and to her friends in Florida Me-Maw. She loved spending time with her family, she was the best Mammaw to her grandkids. She loved to travel with Lewis. She loved to be outdoors and loved to ride horses and go to horse camps with their friends. Lewis and Connie were able to ride the horses on many trails throughout the states from Missouri to Florida. Age finally caught up with Lewis and he needed to give up horse riding, but the desire to ride was still strong, so Lewis went and bought a Harley-Davidson. Together they made several trips to southern states, often ending up in Florida to see their daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. She was a snowbird, and when the time came her and Lewis would pack up and head to Florida. Connie and Lewis would be found riding with their family and other Harley Riders. She will be missed every minute of every day.

Connie worked at Dura Automotive until the plant closed, and her loving nature led her to home health care for several years. She was a Mammaw true to the heart and went to work for her daughter’s day care, where she was Mammaw to all the kids.

Her legacy of love will live on with her family, her husband of almost 50 years Lewis McVay of Sparksville, children Michael McVay of Sparksville, and Stephanie Carroll and her favorite son-in-law, Chuck of Florida, four grandchildren, Issac McVay and his wife Hope of Brownstown, Justice McVay of Florida, Ethan Carroll and Bre Carroll of Florida, three great-grandchildren Ariana, Ryan, and Danerious, brother Phillip Huffman and his wife Ganie of Norman, and several nieces and nephews.
