Southern Indiana Center for the Arts has announced several upcoming events planned at the facility, 2001 N. Ewing St., Seymour.

A knitting group will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 8 and 22 and July 10 and 24. Hosted by Georgiann Coons, this is a no-cost (donations welcomed) community group where you can share tips and socialize with fellow knitters. Just bring yourself and your knitting projects. Beginners to experts are welcome.

Pottery for beginners will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. May 13 (intro), 20 (create) and 27 (glaze). Hosted by Megan Pottschmidt, the cost is $36 per lesson, and all ages are welcome. There is a limited number of spots available.

Learn how to glaze bisque ware from 2 to 4 p.m. June 2 outdoors in the SICA gardens. Participants will choose an unpainted piece and decorate it however they want. After running it through a kiln, they can take it home. The cost is $25 per person (supplies included), and all ages are welcome. Proceeds will go toward renovations of the pottery barn.

A coil vase workshop is from 5 to 8 p.m. June 3. In this class for all ages, you will be taught how to create pots or vases using the coil method. Pottery tools and a charcuterie board will be provided. The cost is $45, and Pottschmidt will be the host for this event, too.

Signups for these events open Friday. That can be done during the kickoff of the Friday Night Live summer concert series at the arts center that day at 6 p.m. Live music will be by The Alley Katz Band, and there will be ice cream, the Covered Bridge BBQ food truck, yard games and more.
