MEDORA

Mary J. Shouse, 86, of Medora, passed away at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023, at University of Louisville Hospital. Mary was born on March 12, 1937, in Washington Co., IN, to the late Robert &Ruby Cole Byarlay. On November 14, 1955, she married Willie Shouse and he preceded her in death on May 26, 1972.

Mary was a member of Midway Apostolic Church. She worked at Jackson Park Nursing Home for 15 years and then was an in-home health caregiver. She enjoyed watching westerns, working crossword puzzles, doing word search, and most of all reading her bible.

Survivors include: her children: Willard Shouse of Medora &Lois Imlay of Louisville, KY; grandchildren: Jason Shouse, Ashley (Chris) Haley, Natalie &Nicole Shouse, Justin, Larry, Chad, &Jessica Shouse; great grandchildren: Jalyn, Alexis, &Brittany Haley, Braden &Peyton Shouse; brother, Robert Byarlay; &sister, Henrietta Branaman.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Marvin “Mo” Shouse; and a brother, Gene Byarlay.

Funeral services for Mary will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with Russell Raney officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will take place at White River Valley Cemetery, Medora. Memorial contributions may be given to Midway Apostolic Church.
