Ride to Remember to travel through county

Ride to Remember, honoring 16 fallen heroes and their families in southeastern Indiana who gave the ultimate sacrifice during the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts, will be June 10 and 11.

The 13th annual ride includes a stop at 2:15 p.m. June 11 at the Jackson County Courthouse, 111 S. Main St., Brownstown, to remember Marine Lance Cpl. Hunter “H.D.” Hogan of Norman for his sacrifice. He was killed in action June 23, 2012, while serving in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

That will be followed by a stop at 3:45 p.m. at the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon to remember Marine Lance Cpl. Jacky Koenig Jr.

The 300-plus-mile ride, organized by members of the Indiana Patriot Guard Riders, will begin at 7:15 a.m. June 10 in Batesville and end with a stop at 5 p.m. June 11 in Versailles. It is open to motorcycles and automobiles.

Other stops to remember the servicemen from southern Indiana who lost their lives include Sunman, Aurora, Bennington, Madison, Scottsburg, Sellersburg, Clarksville, New Albany, Bedford and Heltonville.

Each stop includes honoring fallen heroes and their Gold Star Families with a personalized ceremony.
