Softball

Trinity routs New Washington

The Trinity Lutheran softball team rolled past New Washington on Thursday night as the Cougars won 18-2.

Trinity had 17 hits on the night. Bailey Tabeling had four, Madison Keith, Dianna Munoz and Maddie Adams all had three, Grace Lance had two, and Olivia Cain and Morgan Brewer both had one.

Keith, Adams and Brewer all had three RBI, Lance and Munoz both had two RBI, and Tabeling, Cain and Rowan Sharp each had one RBI.

Lance pitched all five innings for the Cougars, allowing three hits, two runs and striking out eight batters.

The Cougars are now 9-7 this season and will host Crothersville later tonight.

Brownstown game stopped

The Brownstown Central softball team was leading 5-1 at Corydon on Thursday before the game was suspended in the third inning due to rain.

The Braves will travel back to Corydon on Tuesday to resume the game.

Brownstown (9-5) is scheduled to host Indian Creek later tonight.

Tigers drop game at CAI

The Crothersville softball team lost 17-7 at Christian Academy on Thursday night.

Grace Walker had a bases-loaded triple to score three runs for the Tigers. Kendall Berry got a double, and Dacie Hughes had two RBI while Lakeon Colwell had one RBI.

Hughes pitched 4.2 innings for Crothersville and Zoey Prince pitched the other 0.1.

Crothersville is scheduled to play at Trinity Lutheran later tonight.

Baseball

Bull Dogs top Owls

The Seymour baseball team had its winning streak snapped on Thursday night as the Owls fell 4-1 at Columbus North.

Columbus North scored one in the first, one in the second, one in the fourth and one in the sixth.

Seymour’s lone run in the game came in the fifth inning when Jack Pennington got a two-out base hit. Bret Perry got a walk, and then Vince Wilson singled to score Pennington.

Mikey Wright started on the mound for Seymour.

The Owls (12-3) will host Trinity Lutheran on Monday.

Scottsburg blanks Brownstown

The Brownstown Central baseball team suffered a 6-0 loss at Scottsburg on Thursday night.

The Braves could only muster one hit on the night, coming from Chick Tiemeyer. Grayson Cassidy got on base after getting hit by a pitch.

Trent Lowery pitched 3.2 innings and had five strikeouts, Ethan Fultz pitched 1.1 innings, and Lane Pendleton pitched one inning and had one strikeout.

The Braves (10-5) are scheduled to play at Floyd Central later tonight.

Tennis

Braves beat Panthers

The Brownstown Central girls tennis team defeated Corydon 3-2 at home on Thursday night.

Brynn Burton beat Lesly Martinez 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, Leah Pottschmidt beat Alyssa Harmon 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Genna Preston and Audrey Scarlett beat Lydia Neill and Morgan Adams 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Corydon got points at No. 3 singles, where Melanie Camacho beat Jenna Bolte 7-5, 6-4; and at No. 1 doubles, where Kimi Wolfe and Bre Edwards beat Kaitlyn Williams and Bella Brown 6-3, 6-3.

Brownstown (4-6) will play in the Scott County Tennis Invitational this Friday and Saturday at Scottsburg.

Track and field

Results to come

The track and field teams from Crothersville, Brownstown Central and Trinity Lutheran were in action on Thursday night, but results were unavailable at press time.

The Tigers ran at West Washington while the Braves and Cougars raced in the Salem Invite.
