New Washington tops Crothersville

The Crothersville baseball team played at New Washington on Wednesday night, and the Tigers lost 16-3.

Crothersville had two hits with Lucas Hilton and Corey Reynolds each getting one. Hilton and Dirk Crater each had one RBI, and Hilton, Caden Lewis and Corey Kelshaw each had one run.

Hilton pitched two innings and had two strikeouts, and Devin Morgan and Beau Napier each pitched one inning.

Crothersville (1-7) will play against Dugger Union on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Track and field

Brownstown beats Brown County

The Brownstown Central boys and girls track and field teams defeated Brown County on Tuesday night at home. The girls won 96-31, and the boys won 84-46.

First-place finishers for the Lady Braves included Hailey Bair in the 100 (13.5), Maddy Schepman in the 200 (28.1), Harley Toppe in the 400 (1:13.6), Trinity Cody in the 1600 (6:16.1), Cody in the 3200 (13:45.3), Camryn Thompson in the 100 hurdles (18.0) and Thompson in the 300 hurdles (51.1).

Brownstown’s 4×100 relay of Bair, Schepman, Jocelyn Love and Thompson won in 53.4, and the 4×400 team of Sophie Wischmeier, Love, Noe McPherson and Thompson won in 4:31.2.

In field events, Liberty Wilkins and Cody tied for first in high jump (4-8), Claire Schepman won pole vault (6-6), Bair won long jump (15-1), Olivia Fritz won shot put (30-6) and Fritz won discus (88-5).

First-place finishers for the Brownstown boys were Hudson Fritz in the 100 (11.4), Caleb Cummings in the 200 (23.5), Garrett Driver in the 400 (41.1), Isiaah Engle in the 110 hurdles (16.9) and Engle in the 300 hurdles (43.6).

BC’s 4×100 relay of Cummings, Jack Pace, Engle and Fritz won in 44.5, and the 4×400 relay team of Gregory Hutcheson, Driver, Lane Zike and Engle won in 3:43.1.

In the field events, Cummings won high jump (5-10), Aden McCrary won pole vault (8-6), Pace won long jump (18-2.5) and Ryan Branaman won shot put (41-3).

The Braves will be in the Salem Invitational tonight.

Crothersville runs at Scottsburg

The Crothersville boys and girls track and field teams ran at Scottsburg on Tuesday night.

Charlestown won the girls meet with a 125, Scottsburg was second at 48, Austin third at 41 and Crothersville fourth at four. Charlestown also won the boys meet with a score of 112, Austin was second at 64.5, Scottsburg was third at 50.5 and Crothersville fourth at 10.

Scoring points for the Crothersville girls was Zoe Bowman in the 100 hurdles, placing fourth in 20.90, and Bowman was also fourth in the 300 hurdles (59.03).

Scoring points for the boys were Dirk Crater in the 1600, placing second in 4:50.77, Will Ragan was fourth in the 400 (59.37), Crater was third in the 3200 (10:24.01) and Corey Reynolds was sixth in shot put (33-5).

The Tigers will race at West Washington tonight.

Tennis

Warriors top Braves

The Brownstown Central girls tennis team lost 5-0 at Scottsburg on Tuesday night.

Claire Routt beat Brynn Burton 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Grace Routt beat Leah Pottschmidt 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 single, and Olivia Spellman beat Jenna Bolte 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

Olivia Fugate and Kira Shelhamer beat Kaitlyn Williams and Bella Brown 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Klara Leach and Melea Luttrell beat Avery Harrison and Audrey Scarlett 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Brownstown (3-6) will host Corydon Central tonight.
