Owls beat Olympians in extras

The Seymour softball team outlasted Columbus East in extra innings on Thursday night as the Owls walked it off in the bottom of the eighth inning to win 7-6.

Seymour scored two in the first, one in the fourth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh to tie the ballgame and head to extras.

In the eighth inning, Delaney Warren hit a ball to deep left field and Avery Stewart rounded the bases from first to score the game-winning run.

The Owls had eight hits on the night. Kendall Allman had three, Abby Followell two and Jamie Bobb, Mackenzie Bryson and Warren each had one hit.

Alexia Rieckers, Followell, Phoebe Underwood, Avery Stewart and Warren each had one RBI.

Rieckers pitched all eight innings for Seymour, throwing five strikeouts.

The Owls (4-6) will next play at Silver Creek tonight.

Trinity rolls past South Ripley

Bailey Tabeling had seven RBI to lead the Trinity Lutheran softball team to a 13-1 victory over South Ripley on Thursday night.

Tabeling had four hits, including a grand slam in the sixth inning.

The Cougars had eight total hits on the day, and Grace Lance joined Tabeling with multiple hits. The Cougars also were effective on the base path, stealing 13 bases on the night.

Lance pitched for Trinity, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out 10 batters.

The Cougars (8-4) will host a round robin on Saturday at home.

Warriors edge out Braves

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Brownstown Central softball team tried to make a comeback against Scottsburg at home on Thursday night.

The Braves were able to get one run but couldn’t tie the game as the Warriors won 2-1.

Brownstown had three hits on the night, coming from Rylee May, Kyndle Huddleston and Olivia Justice. The Braves’ solo run in the seventh inning was a solo shot from May, which was her third homer this season.

Rylin Huddleston pitched five innings for BC and struck out nine batters, and May pitched the other two innings and had two strikeouts.

The Braves (7-4) will host Orleans later tonight.

Baseball

Eagles knock off Braves

The Austin baseball team was able to manage a slim 7-6 victory over Brownstown Central on Thursday night.

The Braves led 6-1 before Austin scored three runs each in the fifth and sixth innings to score the victory.

Brownstown had six hits on the night. Trent Lowery led with three, and Ethan Garland, Jaxson Johnson and Lane Pendleton each had one. Lowery had three RBI, Garland had two and Grayson Cassidy had one.

Dalton Reedy pitched four innings for BC and had five strikeouts, Garland pitched 1.1 innings and Ethan Fultz pitched 1.2 innings and had four strikeouts.

The Braves (7-4) will host Trinity Lutheran for a doubleheader on Saturday morning.

Track and field

Track results to come

The Seymour, Crothersville and Brownstown Central track and field teams were in action on Thursday night, but results were unavailable at press time.

Crothersville was at New Washington, Brownstown Central was at Madison and the Seymour boys freshmen and sophomores were at Bedford North Lawrence.
