Braves beat Lions

The Brownstown Central baseball team picked up a Mid-Southern Conference win on Monday night, winning at Salem 10-5.

The Braves scored one run in the second and then nine in the fourth.

Pierson Wheeler and Dalton Reedy each had two hits, and Ethan Garland, Carson Darlage, Preston Garrison, Grayson Cassidy and Chick Tiemeyer each had one hit.

Tiemeyer had three RBI, Cassidy and Garland each had two RBI and Wheeler had one RBI.

Trent Lowery pitched five innings for BC and had nine strikeouts, and Ethan Fultz pitched the last two innings and struck out two.

The Braves are now 7-3 (2-1 MSC) this season will next play on Thursday at home against Austin.

Cougars top Hornets

Trinity Lutheran’s baseball team came up with five runs in the top of the sixth inning and posted a 9-6 win at Henryville on Monday.

The Cougars trailed 3-0 entering the fifth when they scored one run, then took a 6-3 lead in the sixth.

The Cougars pounded out 14 singles with Andrew Bell getting three. Nathan Voelker, Jackson Trueblood, Peyton Pollert and Cole Brewer each had two hits, and Sage Broughton, Kowan Gross and Levi Pottschmidt each had one hit.

Bell and Pollert each scored two runs, while Voelker, Trueblood, Brewer, Gross and Levi Froedge each scored one run.

Bell and Broughton each had two RBI, and Pollert had one RBI.

Pollert pitched 6.2 innings and had three strikeouts and three walks and allowed six runs, of which three were earned.

Chase Bode got a save.

Trinity is 5-4 and will be home to Charlestown today.

Crothersville falls to South Central

The Crothersville baseball team suffered a 30-8 loss to South Central on Monday night.

Devin Morgan, Lucas Hilton and Corey Reynolds each got two hits, and Dirk Crater, Hunter Day and Darius Ruiz each had one hit. Hilton, Reynolds and Caden Lewis each had one RBI for the Tigers.

Reynolds and Blake Robinson each had one strikeout for Crothersville.

The Tigers (1-3) will host Christian Academy today.

Softball

Panthers defeat Cougars

The Jennings County softball team bested Trinity Lutheran 11-1 on Monday night on the Panthers’ home field.

The Cougars scored their one run in the fourth inning as Bailey Tabeling hit a triple, and then Dianna Munoz singled to score Tabeling.

Tabeling had two hits for Trinity, and Munoz had one.

Grace Lance pitched for Trinity and had three strikeouts on the day.

The Cougars are now 6-4 this season and will host Henryville later today.

Golf

Braves beat Eagles

The Brownstown Central boys golf team defeated Brown County on Monday, shooting a 163 to Brown County’s 213.

Micah Sheffer was the medalist as he took first with a 37. Matthew Reedy was next with a 40, and Caiden Gwin, Chandler Stahl and Smith Hackman all shot a 43.

Collin Downing shot a 45, Carter Covert 46, Elix Preston 50 and Connor Gwin 52.

The Braves will be back in action today at Columbus North.

Cougars, Hornets play at Henryville

The Trinity Lutheran golf team posted a team score of 237 during a match Monday at Shadowood Golf Course.

Andrew Lemming was low for the Cougars with a 53, Wylie Jones shot 57, Gabe Lorenz 63 and Solomon Hall and Alex Overgaard shot 64s.

Medora and Henryville each had two golfers. Braxton McCory shot 57 and Eli Sturgill 67 for Medora.

Trinity and Medora will play Christian Academy and North Harrison next Monday at Hidden Creek Golf Course.

Tennis

Braves fall to Eagles

The Brownstown Central girls tennis team lost to Brown County at home on Monday night 4-1.

Leah Pottschmidt lost 6-0, 6-1 at one singles to Amanda Stogsdill, and Brynn Burton lost 6-3, 5-7, 0-6 at two singles to Anna Tipton.

At one doubles, Katie Tipton and Londyn Koester beat Kaitlyn Williams and Bella Brown 6-0, 6-0, and at two doubles, Julia Burst and Cady Kemp beat Jenna Bolte and Audrey Scarlett 6-3, 6-0.

Brownstown’s point came at three singles when Avery Harrison beat Athena Doughty 6-3, 6-3.

The Braves (3-4) will next play on Thursday at Seymour.
