NASHVILLE

Evan A. Werling, 77 of Nashville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loving family and the caring staff of IU Hospice, on Sunday, April 9, 2023.

He was a faithful, loving husband, CPA & International Entrepreneur.

Now that my soul has left this Earthly body, I want to say good-bye to my family and friends.

I was blessed to share my life with my dear wife and soul mate, who I credit for much of my success-as she was an exceptional leader and entrepreneur during and after her professional career.

As I review my life, beginning as a small-town farm boy from Hoagland, Indiana, through adulthood, I realize how blessed I was to have lived in the United States of America. No, life on Earth was not easy-probably because our Creator wanted to challenge us to learn and grow as we progressed through life.

Having traveled throughout the world during my career, I witnessed the incredible opportunities and advantages American citizens have over the vast majority of people on this planet. Therefore, I was humbled by the fact that our Creator chose to give me the opportunity to live in the United States. I have no idea what I did to deserve this honor.

One of the most important lessons I learned in life is that it is the people we love and help, and not the money we make or things we accumulate that are important-because only love and the benefits resulting from our deeds survive our passing from this Earth. One of my greatest pleasures in life was having discussions with high school and college students in their classrooms regarding their Personal Strategic Planning, and Entrepreneurship. I believed that if I helped just one student in each class, then my time was well spent.

Survived by loving wife Sue Ann; brothers Roger Werling (Pam) and Craig Werling (Loretta); sisters Joy Hitzeman (Ron) and Diane Hoffman (Theresa); brother-in-law Gregory Jones (Tammy); sister-in-law Cindy Richards (John); several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and our four adopted senior pups. Preceded in death by parents Oscar and Margret Werling; father and mother-in-law Eddie and Patty Jones; and daughter Wendy Brodeur.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Voss and Son’s Funeral Home in Seymour. The family will meet friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
