Madeline L. Rothert



Madeline L. Rothert, age 95, of Seymour, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Columbus Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Rothert was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, and a current member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown, since 1949.

Madeline cherished her family, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren. She loved fishing, gardening, and quilting. Madeline worked at F.F. Buhner Fertilizer Co., was a homemaker, and she also helped her husband, son, and grandsons, on the farm.

Born on September 2, 1927, at her home, she was the daughter of Martin J.G. and Edna (Nierman) Hackman, both of whom preceded her in death. On January 1, 1949, she married Glenn L. Rothert, and he preceded her in death on March 10, 1990.

Survivors include one son, Alan (Brenda) Rothert of Seymour; one brother, Harold (Joan) Hackman of Seymour; two grandchildren: Benjamin (Erin) Rothert of Seymour, and Timothy (Danielle) Rothert of Seymour; two great-grandchildren: DeAnna Rothert and Andrew Rothert; and several nieces and nephews.

Madeline was also preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Verna Hackman, Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, Edgar and Pauline Hackman; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Betty Hackman; and sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Raymond McNeal.

Funeral services for Madeline L. Rothert will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown, with Pastor Ken Davidson officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown.

Interment will be at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown, or Donor’s Choice.
